A request to add the WiFi direct methods in Corona. Plugins like Autolan and Zeroconf aren't feasible due to the fact that what I'm aiming for is the ability for a wireless proximity based connection between devices and bluetooth is not really an option.3 votes
In order to take advantage of the new firebase features like phone login and performance logging on android, firebase needs to be updated to 11.
Google play services would also need to be updated 11 as well.40 votes
Implement the ability to access to the
getContentResolver().openInputStream(uri) function at Android.
This is to create a file with an stream. Many apps uses the contentProvider and send an URI similar to:
Need some way to resolver this, and allow share files in this way in android. Not really share, but, read, and receive.
For example: send a file by email, and open with our app.
If the email app uses the content:// format for the stream, need a way to get the file.
Any chance?10 votes
On Android, for local notifications, it would good to be able to select the title of the notification (currently the name of the app), the icon (currently limited to 1 for all notifications), a large icon/show the large icon. This could also include current requests such as grouping notifications, setting the badge number and allowing notifications to vibrate etc
Details are found at https://developer.android.com/guide/topics/ui/notifiers/notifications.html#Required and https://developer.android.com/reference/android/support/v4/app/NotificationCompat.Builder.html8 votes
As we know old standard as TLS 1.0 and TLS 1.1 are insecure
Actually Corona support the secure TLS 1.2 and it's perfect
The real problem born when you install your secure app on a device with Android version below 5.0
These Android version support TLS 1.2, but it is not set as default protocol.
So the feature request it's to force the use of protocol TLS 1.2 also in the older Android version (below 5.0)
It's really important for any business app using security

create a system.setLocationMinTime() to complement the system.setLocationThreshold for the GPS battery management.
The Android Location Manager uses a minTime and minDistance combination in the requestLocationUpdates methods to determine how often to send a location event. Currently, you use the system.setLocationThreshold (according to docs) to set the minDistance between events. I understand that you currently hardcode the minTime to 1000. Allowing the minTime to be set through a system.setLocationMinTime() would greatly simplify gps capabilities.5 votes
the newest target SDK should be supported very fast because Google wants this. It is essential for an app to be considered for a feature on Google Play.13 votes
When we send a user a notification it's essential to see the badge counter on the icon. I know not all launchers support badges but the good ones do!10 votes
The current API (https://docs.coronalabs.com/plugin/gamecircle/index.html) of the Amazon Game Circle does not support the API functions:
These would be nice to have because once the user's "TOAST" popup disappears, it is impossible to let the player log out. Or, if log-in failed for some reason, you can give the player a chance to login manually.9 votes

Since Android 5.0, a basic kiosk mode is supported by Android, called "Screen Pinning". This can be done by an Activity to call startLockTask() which will prevent of Home/Task-Switcher keys, until the activity calls stopLockTask() or the user exits via special key-combination and PIN code.
For simple kiosk-mode applications it would be very helpful if Corona SDK could support the appropriate calls on Android.

It would be very nice to be able to code when on the road using my android phone. I have seen and used complete ide's on my android phone so I know it is possible.3 votes
Some android devices drop UDP packets that aren't specifically addressed to them, such as broadcast packets. This makes it impossible to do network discovery services or process data streams that are being broadcast. A multi-cast lock should prevent those android devices from ignoring the broadcast packets.
An example can be found here
We would need seperate functions to create a multicast lock and release a multicast lock7 votes
This event is currently available for IOS, but not Android.2 votes
According to https://coronalabs.com/blog/2013/04/17/expansion-file-support-for-android/, it seems to be a Corona feature which takes all assets except lua scripts and put them in a downloadable package.
This is a problem for us since some assets need to be in the main apk file. We only have two options usesExpansionFile = true (or false), but no option to specify how to prevent certain assets to be included in the expansion file ( and be part of the main apk). This is causing a few problems and it would be great to have this feature.1 vote
iOS can do the localization for push notification by placing .lproj folder in root and "Localizable.strings" in that folder. However, Android cannot do this trick. It will be good if Android can get the localized push notification like the way iOS do6 votes
